A (Very) Brief Argonian History

Along with the Khajiit, Lilmothiit, etc., Argonians are one of the beastfolk races of Tamriel, being humanoid amphibians (although they appear to be reptilian).

The first we know of Argonians is that they originated in Black Marsh, living in stone ziggurats spread across the land, until they were forced further within Black Marsh by the Aldmer.

They defended their borders for centuries, earning themselves a fearsome reputation as guerilla fighters. Not gorilla fighters, they’re reptiles!

Throughout the history of Tamriel, the Argonians have been misunderstood and condemned and, due to their appearance, they are commonly known amongst the other races as “Lizard Folk” – rather an insulting term.
